Ensures access to low cost immunization services
Recruits providers to participate in the Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC) program. There are currently 22 providers of low cost immunizations in Smith County due to this program. TVFC Eligibility Requirements
Assists TVFC providers in ordering, storing, and accounting for these public purchased vaccines.
Promotes the use of the statewide immunization registry, ImmTrac. This registry stores a child’s immunization history in one place regardless of where in Texas they received immunizations. The Immunization program recruits parents, immunization providers, schools, and childcare facilities to participate in this registry.
Conducts immunization assessments of schools and child care facilities to ensure they maintain 95% compliance levels.
Provides immunization training and education for parents, schools, child care facilities, and the general public through various community health fairs and other such forums as well as formal presentations.
